A: Yes, as a virgin you can use the cup. The cup, like any other internal menstrual product, can damage your hymen.
- Q: Can the cup damage my hymen?
A: The hymen can be damaged when the cup is inserted. It is good to know that the hymen is not a closed membrane, otherwise the menstrual fluid would not come out either. The hymen is an edge or thickening of the vagina. In every woman this is different, sometimes it is a jagged edge and sometimes a bit smoother. When you insert the cup there can be a tear in the edge, which can cause bleeding. In some cases, this tear can heal and close again. Also, during sports, self-explorations, tampon use, etc. the hymen can be damaged.

- Q: How do I remove blood stains from my cup?
A: Regular cup use can cause stains on your cup. These can be removed by placing the cup in a glass or container with hydrogen peroxide (3%) for at least 8 hours. Don't do this too often and limit it to a maximum of 3 times a year.
- Q: How do I clean the cup when it smells?
A: It can happen that the menstrual cup starts to smell unpleasant for several reasons. To make your cup free of any unpleasant scent, there are a few methods you can try out:
- Soak the cup overnight in hydrogen peroxide (3%).
- Mix ½ part water and ½ part vinegar and leave the cup overnight in the mixture.
- Boil the cup by adding a scoop of baking soda to the boiling water. Then place the cup in full sun to let it dry.
Make sure that after one of the above methods you wash the cup again with pH-neutral soap, rinse it with water and then sterilize it in boiling water. This deep cleansing is stressful on the material of the cup, so don't do it too often.
If the cup still smells after this, there is a chance that the smell cannot be removed from the cup.
- Q: How do I clean the cup at home?
A: Step 1. Clean it
First wash your hands and rinse the menstrual cup well with cold water from the inside and outside. Make sure you clean thoroughly the parts that are harder to reach such as the ventilation holes and the space beneath the inner flap. It is enough to rinse your cup with water or with Non-Alcohol Baby Wipes. You can also use a pH-neutral soap to clean your cup such as the Beppy Soapy. Apply it to the surface and massage well with lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly and repeat if necessary.
Step 2. Sterilize it
Sterilize your Beppy Cup before using it for the first time, during your period, and after your period has ended. You should clean your Beppy Cup more thoroughly when you are not going to use the cup for a long time.
There are different methods to sterilize the cup:
- Sterilize the cup in a pot of boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Since the menstrual cup is made of silicone, make sure the cup does not touch the bottom to avoid burning.
- Put the cup in a special microwave-safe container with water and leave it to boil for up to 3 minutes.
- Using the Beppy Steam + Add a little water into the container, put the cup upside down, close the lid and press the button. In just 8 minutes your cup will be free of germs and bacteria. Do not use any kind of detergent or soap in your Beppy Steam + Sterilizer, as this could cause an imbalance in the pH of the vagina and eventually cause odors.
- Q: Because the Beppy Cup is softer, does it open?
A: The Beppy Cup has a soft body, but the rim is hard enough to fold open after insertion. Sometimes some practice is needed.
